Negative Affects of Illegal Drugs
Today, as many people know, illegal drugs are used by many people. I am here to tell you that doing them is not a risk that you want to take, nor is it worth doing because of what it does to your body. To start, ill tell you about marijuana. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), one study showed that marijuana can quadruple the risk of a heart attack only after the first use. NIDA also confirmed that marijuana smoke contains up to 20% more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke. Heroin is also an illegal drug that has many disappointing consequences. The Center for Substance Abuse Research (CESAR) found heroin may cause collapsed veins, infection of the heart lining, abscesses, liver disease, and lung related complications. CESAR also found that even after one use of this substance you can die. Lastly, cocaine is yet another illegal drug with horrifying results. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) after the first use of cocaine it is very hard to overcome because it will circulate through the blood stream. Because of this, it leaves a residue in fat tissue and bone marrow, that takes five years for your body to get rid of. The DEA also said this residue, left by the cocaine, can cause serious side effects like cravings, anxiety, and depression. So next time anyone thinks about taking an illegal substance, they should really think about what it will do to them.
